The Quandary...

To laugh is to risk appearing a fool

To weep is to risk appearing sentimental

To reach out for another is to risk involvement

To expose feeling is to risk rejection

To place your dreams before the crowd is to
risk ridicule

To love is to risk not being loved in return

To go forward in the face of overwhelming odds is
to risk failure

But risks must be taken, because the greatest hazard
in life is to risk nothing

The person who risks nothing does nothing, has nothing,
is nothing.

He may avoid suffering and sorrow, but he cannot learn,
feel, change, grow or love

Chained by his certitudes, he is a slave

Only a person who takes risks is FREE.

wow! real good one. i can relate to this in a way. i have taken "risks" which have not paid off. but i dont regret taking those risks as they have made me wiser.

Srini as u say they have made u wiser then i am sure you must have tried to minimize the risk by having a backup plan. Did u?

in some cases there's no such thing as a back up plan... i don't want to give any specific examples of such instances. situations can be quite on the extremes of a scale. some situations might need fuzzy kind of approach where its possible to have a "back-up" plan as you've said. but some situations require strictly boolean kind of approach - either go for it or don't. can you think of any such situations?
